Residency Programs

Why a Residency?
A clinical residency is a planned program of post-professional clinical and didactic education for physical therapists that is designed to significantly advance the physical therapist resident's preparation as a provider of patient care services in a defined area of clinical practice. It combines opportunities for ongoing clinical supervision and mentoring with a theoretical basis for advanced practice and scientific inquiry. An additional goal of the sports and orthopaedic residency programs at Premier Physical Therapy and Sports Performance will be to prepare a graduate to sit for the APTA Specialist Certification Exam and to provide the resident with valuable mentored experiences in sports and orthopaedic physical therapy to include all areas outlined in the Description of Residency Practice.

Why a residency at Premier Physical Therapy and Sports Performance?
The mission of our residency program is: To assist in developing physical therapists into advanced clinicians and as a clinical specialist in the area of sports or orthopaedic physical therapy. Fostering such training will allow the therapist to assist in contributing to growth in sports and orthopaedic physical therapy through research, clinical education and by demonstrating expertise in clinical skills.

As a group of clinicians, we pride ourselves on maintaining advanced clinical skills, which includes holding specializations and fostering a positive environment for all patients in which they can receive the highest level of care. We have multiple clinicians that hold specializations in orthopaedics and sports and have made it a priority for all clinicians to specialize. The program director for the Premier Physical Therapy Sports Residency as well as several of our clinicians have graduated from an APTA Credentialed Residency Program which gives us unique firsthand knowledge and experience in residency curriculum and success. We strongly believe that mentorship and a positive environment are essential components for a developing physical therapist and our practice is built on a mentoring model.

  • Mentoring by a team of experienced clinical specialists
  • Nationally recognized physician, reasearch and clinical faculty
  • Top quality facilities in a private practice setting
  • Community oriented experiences
