Andrew Fortner is a Staff Physical Therapist at Premier Physical Therapy and Sports Performance in Milford, DE. In December of 2015, Andrew earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Delaware, whose graduate school of physical therapy is rated first in the nation by U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Graduate Schools.” While at the University of Delaware, Andrew also earned a Master of Science degree in Anatomy and Clinical Health Science by investigating the biomechanical and anatomical aspects of ulnar collateral ligament injuries (“Tommy John surgery”) in baseball players through extensive cadaveric dissections. During his time at UD he gained valuable experience treating numerous athletes after ACL reconstruction and rotator cuff repair, as well as completing a pediatric internship at Nemours in Wilmington, DE.
In December of 2012, Andrew graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Movement Science from Delaware State University. While at DSU, Andrew completed a year-long internship with the Head Strength and Conditioning coach, during which he helped to design and lead workouts for Division 1 Football, Baseball, Softball, Women’s Soccer, and Women’s Volleyball athletes. He also conducted and published research on the metabolic effects of kettlebell training.
Andrew is a 2008 graduate of Smyrna High School where he played baseball, basketball, and football. He has previously served as an adjunct professor at Delaware State University in the Kinesiology department. He has also lectured on topics including Overhead Athletes, Injury Prevention, and Return to Play. Andrew currently lives with his wife, three children, and two dogs in Milton. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family at the beach, coaching his children’s sports teams, and reading. He also works as a Pitching Instructor, providing pitching lessons and injury prevention tips to local youth athletes.
