Athletic Trainer for Polytech High School
Shanda Jones is a Certified Athletic Trainer for Polytech High School. Starting in high school, Shanda knew she would pursue a career as a Certified Athletic Trainer, as she spent most of her high school athletic career in the Athletic Trainer's office. She went to Temple University's Kinesiology program with an emphasis in Athletic Training. It is from there she was able to gain immense experience in the profession under the guidance of remarkable Athletic Trainers. In 2008, Shanda completed her BS in Kinesiology, Athletic Training emphasis. She decided to continue with furthering her education in sports by attending the University of Miami for a 1-year graduate Sports Administration program. Upon completion of graduate school, Shanda was fortunate to attain a position within Athletic Training at a high-profile private school in Miami, Gulliver Academy and Preparatory. She would spend 3.5 years there working primarily with middle school sports, but also responsible for a state and nationally ranked baseball team and the youth sports program.
After the 2012 academic school year, Shanda returned to New Jersey and began working at Valley Forge Military and College in Pennsylvania in 2013. In August of 2014, she was offered the Head Athletic Trainer position at University of the Sciences, a Division II college. She worked alongside Dr. Zgonis, Orthopaedic Physician at University of Pennsylvania, and spent two years with University of the Sciences before deciding to go back to school for Health and Physical Education. On top of Shanda's experience as a full-time Athletic Trainer, she also thoroughly enjoyed per-diem work, having been responsible for two high schools in Philadelphia, before returning to Athletic Training full time with Polytech high school through Premier Physical Therapy and Sports Performance.
